We visited the Food lab on the first evening of the restaurant week. Starter was a grilled cod fish with red beet sauce, decorated with pieces of red gelatin gels. It was grilled just enough and went well with mildly sweet sauce, an unexpected combination. Main dish was a couple pieces of grilled thick bacon with pumpkin puree. Meat was tender, soft and juicy and again, matched well with the sweet and rich pumpkin sauce. Meal was finished with a rich pie with refreshing warm lemon sauce at the bottom and also a scoop of sorbet with same taste on top. This was not too sweet yet indulging enough. All three dishes were good with creative combinations. Also, it was nutritionally well balanced with vegetables, carbohydrates and proteins. Crews kept eyes on us unnoticeably and did timely service. However, I had impression that they are not such experienced yet.
If you want to have sophisticated, rather light and healthy meal, this restaurant will satisfy you. But you may need to be prepared to pay quite some, in ordinary days.
What was not well controlled was that the first two dishes were rather in lukewarm temperature, which should have been served hotter, in my view.
Finally, The concept of the restaurant may be with modern and testing innovative idea in taste, as the name of the restaurant implies, rather than comfortable and relaxing (The chairs & table made me feel that I was at a standing bar).

Ik had me ontzettend verheugd om hier te gaan eten! Helaas zijn de verwachtingen niet waar gemaakt.

Bij aankomst werden we aan de bar geplaatst, die verrassend druk bezet was. Later bleek dat als je niet aan de bar wilt eten, je dit specifiek bij je reservering dient aan te geven. We waren niet de enigen die hiervan opkeken, maar goed, kan gebeuren. Gelukkig konden we wat later op de avond alsnog naar een tafeltje verhuizen, want gedraaid aan de bar zitten om te eten en te praten is niet zo comfortabel.

Het eten zelf smaakte absoluut goed. Daar viel niets op aan te merken. Wat ik echt niet goed vond, was de portionering. De gerechten waren echt te klein, al helemaal in verhouding tot de prijs. Ook in restaurants van vergelijkbare allure heb ik dit niet eerder meegemaakt. De bijgeleverde broodjes eten om aan een complete maaltijd te komen en niet na afloop langs de snackbar te hoeven rijden kan niet de bedoeling zijn van uit eten gaan. Daar was ik echt teleurgesteld over.

Ik heb gelukkig een leuke avond gehad met mijn tafelgenoot, maar ik kan helaas niet anders concluderen dan dat ik een wat katerig gevoel aan dit restaurant heb overgehouden.
